What's on the ballot in 2026 for NYC?​​ 

In 2026, New Yorkers will vote in elections that shape leadership at the federal, state, and city level. Below is a preview of upcoming elections and the offices that may appear on your ballot.​​ 

April Special Election​​ 

Special elections are held to fill vacancies in elected offices before the next scheduled election. These elections help ensure communities continue to have representation in government.​​  

  • In the April 28 Special Election, voters in New York City Council District 3 will vote to fill their City Council seat. The district includes the West Village, Chelsea, and Hell’s Kitchen.​​

June Primary Election​​  

Primary elections determine which candidates from each political party will move on to the general election later in the year.​​   

  • In the June 23 Primary Election, voters will see city, state, and federal offices on the ballot. These offices are responsible for shaping policies and decisions that impact New Yorkers across the five boroughs.​​  

*Only voters registered with a party holding an election can vote in this election.​​
